3.2 Module 3 · Your First Safe Hire

QuickBooks Read-Only Insights

The bookkeeper's safe first shift: ask your books a question and get an answer — without ever letting the connector change, lodge or pay anything.

Ask Your Books

What it reads — and what it can't do

A domain connector is a brilliant analyst and a terrible signatory. Know the line before you connect it.

It can read

  • P&L, balance sheet, cash flow
  • A/R and A/P aging, sales reports
  • Create / send invoices & payment links

It can't (by connector)

  • Reconcile or categorise the bank feed
  • Lodge a BAS
  • Run payroll

Those are UI-only jobs for Claude for Chrome — supervised, in Module 4. Verify exact capabilities against your current AU QuickBooks edition and connector version.

Ask your books a question

A sample QuickBooks company is connected (read-only). Pick a question — note which ones it answers, and which it hands back.

Figures are illustrative sample data for a demo company, not real accounts.

The golden rule for finance

Claude prepares and checks; a human reviews and lodges. Read-only insight on your books is pure upside — insight with no risk of breaking anything. "The AI did it" is not a defence to the ATO. This is educational, not financial advice.
